The easily managed beautiful landscaped gardens are on many levels and contain a large variety of exotic plants, palm trees and orchids as well as fruits such as Passion Fruit, Pitanga, Advocado and not forgetting the famous Madeiran Banana. The two largest flame trees in Funchal also stand proudly either side of the large main entrance gate.
The recently refurbished pool and pool terrace provides the perfect setting for breakfast and dinner and to watch the regular sunsets over the harbour. Slip into the warm pool after sunset and just relax. There is even a pool heater which can maintain the pool water temperature at a pleasant 22ºC or more in January and February when night temperatures might drop as low as 18ºC !!

The site perimeter is clearly defined with classic quinta-style concrete walls (topped with bougainvillea, pyrostegia (flame vine) and other hedging) which can be accessed either through the main entrance or a side gate which leads to the impressive arched front entrance. There are also entrances through the garage at road level and from the back of the property through an electric sliding steel gate for car access making four accesses in all.
The pavements and pathways are of small traditional Madeiran cobbles and most terraces have an abundance of ornate wrought ironwork.
An interesting feature is the cave or grotto with exposed rock complete with pond and pumped water display. The property also benefits from water from the levadas and has a water storage tank with new pump for approx 30 cubic metres of water at a cost of approx €uro 4 per annum ! This can cope with almost all irrigation needs of the garden.

The well designed external traditional lighting scheme creates a romantic ambience for those late walks around the property.
In addition to the main terraces there are three small terraces covered with traditional Madeiran Pergolas of mature Bougainvillea interspersed with passion fruit and other climbers.
